Where the proponents of a caliphate and rights are similar – culture

The Hamburg district of St. Georg, east of the main train station, is known for its contrasts. The venerable Hotel Atlantic is located here facing the Alster, and in the other direction, next to large museum buildings, the drug scene gathers. There is an important theater in the district, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, and there is squalor prostitution in the streets behind it. The cafés in the Long Row celebrated queerness even before the word entered common usage. On the parallel stone dam, however, there is a completely different climate. The street scene is dominated by the dress code of strict Islam. Even on a warm day in early May, there is hardly any skin to be seen, but there are bearded men in long robes and deeply veiled women. There are few places in Hamburg where the contradictions of the modern city can be found gathered in such a small space.
