Christine Langenfeld, 61, is traveling a lot these weeks; constitutional judges are in demand as speakers on the 75th birthday of the Basic Law. This is particularly true at a time when the Basic Law is under stress – due to the polarization of society and growing popularity for extremist positions. She is being interviewed at the place where she makes her most important contribution to the defense of the Basic Law: in her Karlsruhe office on the second floor of the Federal Constitutional Court, where she processes judgments and resolutions.
