Israel's army attacks Hezbollah “weapons depot” in southern Lebanon – 14 injured

    -

There are repeated clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border. Israel's army has now attacked Hezbollah's “weapons depot”.

According to Lebanese media, 14 people were injured in Israeli air strikes on targets in southern Lebanon on Monday. Israeli warplanes attacked the town of Ghazije near the coastal city of Sidon, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported. The Israeli army said it had targeted “two weapons depots” belonging to the pro-Iranian Shiite militia Hezbollah in Sidon.

A journalist from the AFP news agency heard at least two consecutive impacts in Ghazije and reported dark clouds of smoke. One of the attacks apparently targeted a hangar near the coastal road.

An attack was on a steelworks in an industrial area of the city, security sources said. Accordingly, seven Syrians who worked near the facility were among the injured.

    Response to drone attack?

The Israeli army said the attacks were in response to an attempted drone attack in northern Israel. It was said that the drone was probably launched by Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry called on the international community to condemn the “ongoing” Israeli attacks and to put pressure on Israel “to stop its provocative attempts to drag Lebanon into war.”

More than 250 deaths in southern Lebanon since October 7th

There have been almost daily skirmishes between Israel and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, which is allied with the terrorist Hamas, since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th. The fighting is usually limited to the border region between Lebanon and Israel. However, Ghasije is around 30 kilometers from the border.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas began, at least 269 people have been killed in southern Lebanon, according to a count by the AFP news agency. Most of them were fighters from Hezbollah or other armed groups. But there were also 40 civilians among the victims. According to the army, ten soldiers and six civilians were killed on the Israeli side.
