Julia Navalnaya, the widow of the late Kremlin activist Navalny, was no longer able to post on X. Your account was blocked.
The online service X temporarily blocked the account of Alexei Navalny's widow on Tuesday. In the meantime, the note appeared on Julia Navalnaya's account, which was set up just the day before: “Account blocked. X blocks accounts that violate our rules.” Ms. Navalnaya had previously called on the Kremlin in a video to “return Alexei's body and bury him with dignity.” She also said she “doesn't care how the murderer's press secretary comments on my words.”
After a few hours, Navalnaya's account was unblocked again. The platform's defense mechanism against manipulation and spam had previously incorrectly flagged the account as violating the rules, X said. When the error was noticed, the account was activated again.
Navalnaya wants to continue her husband's legacy
The Kremlin opponent's widow had blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for her husband's death in a Russian prison camp and said she would continue Navalny's work. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov then described her words as “foul and absolutely unfounded accusations against the Russian head of state.”
According to the Russian penal authorities, Navalny, one of Putin's most prominent opponents, suddenly collapsed and died while walking in a prison camp in the Arctic Circle on Friday at the age of 47. However, the Kremlin's information on the exact circumstances of Navalny's death cannot be verified. Supporters of the opposition activist accuse the Russian authorities of killing him. They see the fact that they have so far been denied access to Navalny's body as an attempt to cover up the matter.
