Shortly before the decisive vote, the agricultural lobby sent out clear instructions for action. In an email, the umbrella organization of European farmers' associations, Copa-Cogeca, called on MEPs to reject the nature restoration law. If this is unsuccessful, the lobbyists wrote, then parliamentarians should please approve all amendments. So at least make sure that the law that has been negotiated has to be reopened – which would mean that it could no longer be passed before the European elections.
