The Union's candidate for Chancellor thinks a quick decision is difficult, but there are conversations. The CDU boss, however, rejects a rapid reform of the debt brake. The SPD wants to have its members vote on a possible coalition agreement.
There is movement in the debate about the future financing of the Bundeswehr. CDU boss Friedrich Merz said about a new special fund for defense: “We talk to each other, but it is far too early to say something about it now. I see it as difficult at the moment, but as I said, there are conversations. ” The first parliamentary managing director of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Thorsten Frei, had commented similarly. On Deutschlandfunk he indicated that a new special fund could be set up. He does not want to rule out that, given the highly dynamic foreign policy changes and increasing threats, “very quickly decisions are very specific in the field of foreign and security policy,” said Frei.
