In the last few weeks of the year, everyone is taking stock, managing directors present figures in town hall meetings, Spotify lists who has listened to which songs, albums and artists and how often. If one were to measure which feelings Germans most often experience when thinking about the global political situation, fear would be high in the top ten. There is a lot to be afraid of right now: fear of war, fear of terrorism, fear of uncontrolled migration, fear of right-wing extremism, fear of climate change, fear of the future.
