“Never again” is the German calming mantra – and at the same time hatred of Jews is surging. The longing for innocence will not be fulfilled, says Sasha Marianna Salzmann in the big acceptance speech for the Kleist Prize.

Sasha Marianna Salzmann receives the Kleist Prize 2024. To award this special literary prize, a jury set up by the Heinrich von Kleist Society selects a person of trust who then decides on their own responsibility. This year it was the author and podcaster Samira El Ouassil. Sasha Marianna Salzmann writes plays, novels and essays. Last appeared the correspondence with Ofer Waldman “Simultaneous” published by Suhrkamp Verlag. Here we document Salzmann's acceptance speech in an abbreviated version.
