Tom Enders was in the air and armaments industry and long Airbus boss for decades. He advocates consistent upgrade, but vehemently warns against relying only on conventional systems.
There is hardly anyone who is as familiar with the aviation and armaments industry as Tom Enders, 66. After his time at the Bundeswehr, he worked in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense and switched to the then DASA in 1991. He was head of the European Air and Space Group Airbus for many years, in 2012 he failed with the plan to create a European armaments group through the merger with the British BAE system. He left Airbus exactly six years ago. Today he is on the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa, Linde and at the engine manufacturer GE Aerospace, he has the German Society for Foreign Policy. Enders, who left the CSU in 2011, has just published a explosive claim for security policy called Sparta. He comes to a conversation in gyms and polo shirt for a conversation.
