Comedian David Cross in SZ interview: Crisis of the political satire in the USA – culture

    -

It is a big task to be funny in these times. Comedian David Cross, known from “Arrested Development”, explains the crisis of the political satire in the United States.

The American author and comedian David Cross is above all famous for his role as a socially awkward wannabe actor Tobias Fünke in the comedy series “Arrested Development”. His stand-up career began in his home state Georgia in the early 1980s, in 1998 he won an Emmy as the author of the “Ben Stiller Show”. Together with his writing partner Bob Odenkirk, he achieved the first greater awareness as an actor in the HBO sketch series “Mr. Show”. Cross' solo stage programs, regardless of taste limits, mix very personal experiences with surrealism, sharp political satire and social criticism. He is currently touring David Cross through Europe with his program “The End of the Beginning of the End”, on April 4 (his 61st birthday) in Cologne, on April 11th in Berlin. You can reach him via video call in Oslo, his first station.
